About Arroba Salsa Dance Lessons in Chester and Wales

Arroba Salsa is an extension of the entertainments section of the Arroba group. Having taught for other Salsa organisers for some time now, we felt it was time to step up and start contributing to the development of the Salsa scene in the North West.

We teach classes in The Groves Bar & Bistro in Chester on a Tuesday night, and at Cruise in Chester on a Thursday Night.

The Teachers

Jay Suave

Jay's career in the arts has been quite a diverse one, and Jay's attraction to Salsa was as much for the music as for the dance. Jay's interest in performance was from an early age, training to play the piano and guitar from just 6 years old, eventually also diversifying into performing arts and drama at 11.

Touring and performing throughout Europe as a professional musician from the age of 17, being in the eye of the public is no issue. Jay's musical knowledge and lack of stage fright, enabled him to pick up the dance with ease. After just 4 weeks of learning, he was approached to be a taxi dancer at the International Cuban Salsa Congress at Boddelwyddan Castle, and has never looked back since.

Finishing 3rd at the International Salsa Congress at Bournemouth last July was a proud moment for Jay, especially as he only found out somebody had entered him for the competition 5 minutes before the qualifying stages!

Jay regularly commutes between the UK & Ireland, and is available to teach in either location.

Shari

At the ripe young age of just 20, Shari's path to Salsa was along the route of Ballet and Gymnastics. Before experiencing Salsa for herself, it was never really something that offered much appeal as sports were playing quite an important part of her life. Teaching Hockey and also playing for her country were Shari's priority... and then she experienced Salsa!

Incredibly, having danced Salsa for just one year Shari is teaching regular classes and workshops with Jay, and can be seen on many a dancefloor across the North West of England and in Wales. Relatively fresh to Salsa, Shari's technique and style have developed at an incredible pace, thanks to an undeniable will to learn, improve, and be the best she can. Having travelled far and wide to attend classes and workshops by the best in the world, Shari has gathered a great array of technique and knowledge which will undoubtedly benefit our students.
